Inter Service rugby union arrives at the Kingsholm Stadium on Saturday 15 April with the second match of the three-game championship featuring the Army Rugby Union V Royal Air Force Rugby Union. Both men and women senior teams will compete so spectators can enjoy two hotly contested matches for the price of one ticket.
This year the Royal Air Force squads feature some local interest with a team member from both the men’s and women’s squad returning to their roots for the match. Corporal Zack Taylor a Physical Training Instructor at RAF Brize Norton played club ruby for Chosen Hill RFC before joining the RAF. He received his first senior XV Cap against the Army in the 21-22 Season before going on to get his second against the Navy.
Corporal Georgie Lang played at Hartpury College for the BUCs University before joining the RAF in 2021 and is now based at RAF Honington having graduated into the RAF Police. This is the first time she has been included in the squad.
Inter Service Rugby Union has a pedigree that dates back to 1878 with annual matches between the Army and Royal Navy since 1907. The Royal Air Force joined the Championship soon after forming in 1918 and women’s matches between the Army Navy and RAF have been included since 2003.
Tickets for Army V RAF are available from www.tickets.gloucesterugby.co.uk and the stadium opens at 10am for hospitality and 10:30am for the general public. The final match of the championship Army V Navy is at Twickenham on Saturday 13 May.
