LooseHeadz Named Charity of the Day for Army v Navy Match at Twickenham

LooseHeadz, the mental health charity dedicated to supporting the rugby community and beyond, has been announced as the Charity of the Day for the prestigious Army v Navy Double Header at Allianz Stadium, Twickenham, on 2nd May 2026.

The announcement recognizes LooseHeadz's vital work in breaking down the stigma surrounding mental health in rugby and the armed forces communities. The charity will be prominently featured throughout the match day, raising awareness of mental health issues and the support available to those who need it.

A Natural Partnership

Founded to provide mental health support within the rugby community, LooseHeadz has expanded its reach to help individuals across all walks of life. The charity's mission aligns closely with the values of resilience, teamwork, and camaraderie that define both rugby and military service.

"We’re incredibly proud that LooseHeadz has been chosen as the ‘Charity of the Day’ for the Army v Navy match in 2026. This fixture has always been a highlight in the rugby calendar, and to be part of it next year is truly special for our charity. This partnership provides a platform to raise awareness of mental health within both rugby and the military. The people serving in our armed forces are our protectors, and when they speak openly about their mental health, it empowers others to do the same. We’re also proud to support conversations that tackle the stigma and encourage positive mental health across the military community." - Rob Shotton, Co-founder  of LooseHeadz - rugby's mental health charity

The partnership has received strong support from the British Army and the wider Defence community, which has increasingly prioritized mental health awareness and support for service personnel and veterans.

Brigadier Gary McDade, Vice Chair of the Army Rugby Union, commented: “This is a fantastic opportunity, and both the Army and Royal Navy Rugby Unions are so pleased to have LooseHeadz as the Charity of the Day for this iconic date in the Services’ sporting calendar. Collectively, we hope to raise awareness of mental health and support networks within the rugby family, and what better place to do it than at the home of English rugby, and in the run-up to next year’s match. Firmest of rivals on the pitch, firmest of friends off it, having LooseHeadz alongside us will only strengthen these bonds.”

Match Day Activities

The Army v Navy matches at Allianz Stadium, Twickenham, are one of the most anticipated dates in the rugby calendar, attracting thousands of spectators and representing the proud traditions of both services. Next year's matches will provide LooseHeadz with an invaluable opportunity to engage with the rugby and military communities, share resources, and encourage open conversations about mental wellbeing.

Attendees at the matches will be able to learn more about LooseHeadz's work through various activities and information points around the stadium. The charity encourages all supporters to join the conversation about mental health and help break down the barriers that prevent people from seeking support.

Breaking Down Barriers

LooseHeadz works to reduce stigma, raise awareness, and provide practical support for those experiencing mental health challenges. Through community engagement, education, and advocacy, the charity is committed to ensuring that no one faces mental health struggles alone.

The organization started in the rugby community and has grown to support people from all backgrounds, recognizing that mental health challenges do not discriminate.
