How did you prepare to handle the increased physical and tactical demands of senior-level rugby compared to the under-23s?
In addition to playing adult civilian rugby, I committed extra hours in the gym, focusing on building strength and conditioning. I also took the time to assess my key strengths and figure out how to leverage them in senior rugby. I believe this has helped me make a positive impact on every team I played for.
What aspects of your game did you feel needed the most improvement to succeed at the senior XV level?
I focused heavily on improving my decision-making, as opportunities are fewer at the senior level and you have to capitalize on them. I also worked on refining my overall skill set to minimize unforced errors and be more consistent in each match.
How did you plan to adjust to the faster pace and higher intensity of senior rugby matches?
I pushed myself to become fitter, faster, and stronger, both in the gym and on the pitch, to keep up with the higher intensity and demands of senior rugby.
In what ways have your coaches and teammates helped you integrate into the senior squad, both on and off the field?
The coaches and teammates were incredibly welcoming, especially some of the senior players like Sgt Connor O'Reilly, who really made me feel part of the team. Having everyone work toward the same goals has also made the integration process smoother.
What are your goals now that you've made the transition to the senior XV?
My primary goal is to push myself to play at the highest level possible and win as much as I can while wearing the red shirt for the Army. Additionally, I want to contribute to the team’s transition in the coming years and help ensure continued success whenever I'm fortunate enough to play red shirt rugby.
